With all of the hilarious-turned-livid memes about snow on our feeds, I want to offer this. Not sure how popular it will be, but hope it gives us all some perspective this winter.

I’m practicing noticing what I have the ability to control and what I don’t. And, hunny, I cannot control Mother Nature’s relentless, cold, snowy winter (well, we won’t get into that). But I can control my thoughts around it.

I was easily getting sucked into the negative OMFG STOP snow alreadymindset. And then I woke up this morning… and walked outside.

I was in awe. The sun was just beginning to rise and the yellow moon peeked through hundreds of snow fallen tree branches with the morning fog frosted over on them. And I literally stopped in my tracks.

I didn’t feel the cold. I walked to find the perfect angle to take a picture. I started my car and walked out into the field out back. I wasn’t even mad when I stepped into a snow bank and it gave way plummeting snow all around my ankles (seriously, I wasn’t). I was too focused on capturing the fog hanging over the field just beginning to light up pink from the sunrise.

It. Was. Amazing.
I resisted the urge to go back, grab my camera and shoot all morning. I went to the gym and on the way back she was still showin’ off. I got out of my car and snapped these- fingers noticeably freezing- didn’t care.

The long winded point is. If you see horrible shit snow up to your ears, that’s what you’ll get. If you realize you can’t control it and try to control your thoughts around it in a positive way, you can see this.

Appreciating what we have can help spark joy. I know the snow did for me today. I appreciate it, my sight to see it, my beautiful back yard and neighborhood, the list goes on.
