We Connect to the Real

January 8th, 2019

I thought about telling you my alter ego Sasha Fierce wrote this post, but it was me. It contains several swear words. I thought about making it PG, then I didn’t. You’ve been forewarned, so no bitching. ☺️

None of what I share is ground breaking. I am not a doctor. I am not a counselor. I am simply a real woman showing up with what I got and sharing real shit (aka my feelings).

Yesterday I posted about how I was feeling when I woke up. That is all. And ya know what? People like that shit. You like that shit. You pay attention. You are engaging with my posts. And ya know why? Because we need more of that shit; more real talk, less bullshit. Less of the perfect family photo that God knows took dozens of shots to get. Less of the spotless home that stayed that way for less than a minute. Less of the same shit we see saturating our feeds, more honesty. You like what I share because you feel a strong emotional connection to it… because you are a human. We’re all human and we like when other people show they aren’t perfect either. It makes us feel more human.

What I’m saying is that the world appreciates when you share the good and the bad. I bought a new-to-me car the same day I was feeling down and depressed. Which of those did I share with you? Which of those makes you feel more connected to humans? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

If you feel moved to, I encourage you to be the change. If you feel moved to, stop only sharing the good stuff. Have courage, share the not so great stuff. Show us you are human. You will be amazed at the response.

I know this is not for everyone, duh. I’m hoping to inspire those of you who it is for, who have been thinking about it. And in the meantime I will be over here continuing to show up, have courage and share the real shit. Some days I’ll be living my best life, sharing inspiration. Other days I’ll be sharing my less than perfect life, making you feel less alone and more human.

Go slay today.
Xoxo,
C
